USS ''LST-459'' was an ''LST-1''-class tank landing ship which saw service during the Second World War. As with many of her class, the ship was never named. Instead, she was referred to by her hull designation. ==Service history== The ship was laid down on 22 September 1942, at Wash, Vancouver, by Kaiser, Inc. She was launched on 29 October. During the Second World War, ''LST-459'' was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific theater, where she participated in the following campaigns: *Bismarck Archipelago operation at Cape Gloucester, New Britain in December 1943 and January and February 1944 as well as the Admiralty Islands landings of March 1944 *Consolidation and capture of the southern Philippines during the Mindano landings of March and April 1945 and the Sulu Archipelago landings of April 1945. *Hollandia operation of April and May 1944 *Leyte operation, October and November 1944 *Luzon campaign during the Lingayen Gulf landings of January 1945 *Western New Guinea operation during the Biak Island operation, May and June 1944; Noemfoor Island operation, July 1944; Cape Sansapor operation, August 1944; Morotai landings of September 1944 The ship was struck from the Naval Vessel Register on 19 June 1946.
